Default B2000 A/C issues

I found this forum via Google... and specifically this thread:

https://www.mazdaforum.com/forum/mazda-bt-50-pickup-trucks-18/turn-fan-speed-up-c-compressor-shuts-off-14045/

I'm having the same issue and was about to buy a switch via ebay (where else can I get one?) and saw the resistor issue.

How can I replace the resistor pack? Is it a specific resistor that I can/need to replace, or the whole unit?

I can actually make the A/C work if I get the **** *JUST* right between fan speeds 1 & 2.

Any specific information and directions would be *greatly* appriciated.

Thanks,

Chris

This is a blower resistor problem caused by excessive amperage draw from the blower motor. Usually worn out brushs in the fan motor are the root cause. If you replace the blower resistor and it burns it up within a month you will need a blower motor.

Thanks for that info.

Based on the first thread, and now mine, am I looking in the right place for my issue?

Or could it still be the fan switch?

The reason I suggest/ask, is that I can make it work, like I said, if I get the switch JUST right between 1 and 2... it'll run just fine like that.

I'm not sure if it's just between the contacts and it's bypassing/fooling the resistor into running or not....

IIRC, the fan works on all levels of fan, it's just the A/C kick on/off that I'm having an issue with.

Thanks again.
