Mazda BT 50 & Pickup TrucksWhile Mazda may not be known for their trucks, they have always produced quality reliable trucks for both hauling cargo, or simply crusing. BT 50
In search of an Air intake system for a 1993 Mazda B2200 truck. Any suggestions of where to find one will be greatly appreciated. It seems to be difficult to find.
I am assuming that you have a carbureted truck......not an EFI since your location is in Athens GA? Typically you only see carb trucks down South here.......there were EFI models in CA and CAN since their emission laws were more stringent back then, so it is possible that some could be here in the South also.......but I haven't seen many!
Let me know what induction system you have and we can go from there. Welcome to the forum also!
So, if it runs great, don't touch the carb or the air intake system.......just drive it and enjoy it. You won't gain ANY more horsepower by installing a cold air intake system. When the factory carb is operating as it is supposed to, it gets good mileage for the truck......however, when it starts messing up, then it is a nightmare to troubleshoot! Once that happens, I just swap out to a Weber 32/36 carb with electric choke, and remove all of the vacuum hoses, remove the exhaust manifold, and put a Pacesetter header on it.
But again.......if it runs good with the factory carb.....keep it stock! It will save you some money, and you will enjoy the truck more! If you hold onto it long enough to where the factory carb starts having issues, that would be the time to start changing things around some.
And BTW....no one make a cold air intake system for a carbed B2200.......if it were EFI, then you could probably buy a universal system that would work.
Here is what mine looks like after a Weber swap and adding a Pacesetter header.......no cold air setup either, just an open element air cleaner setup.....any cold air setup won't help a 90 hp engine much!
