New guy here wondering about beeps on start-up. I have a 1998B-4000 V6 2WD. It happens a few seconds after every start up.I get 5 sets of 5 beeps totaling 25 annoying beeps. I've checked the net with no results. Could someone please let me know what the truck might be telling me?

near the bottom it says this

" when the airbag light burns out or is otherwise disabled, Ford provides an audible backup. It is a group of 5 low beeps, then a pause, repeated 5 times. Your airbag problem has not gone away; the warning method has just changed from a light to the 5x5 beep.

A working airbag light will flash out a trouble code pattern that can help you diagnose the problem. Until it is repaired/replaced, the only way to read the trouble code is with a dealer tool. "

so maby its that ! other then that just call the dealership and ask the service desk about audible beeping codes. just even to know for fact there is something to look for and which direction to take.

 

sounds about right,maybe. i know that before the beeps, theairbag light would have a pattern of blinking. i've tried using the key to turn the passenger airbag on and off, but maybe didn't work. i've been in a fender-bender or two and bags didn't deploy. maybe since i had bought it used, it had been in a prior accident. i will try again. but what change it from air-bag light blinks to beeps? is it like SpaceBalls? "i've lost the bleeps, the sweeps, and the creeps? thanks for the direction tho.
