Default 92 b2200 newbie question

360 000km, there is a light yet fast paced ticking when applying gas pedal, in any gear really. most prominent in gears 2 through 5.

i think potentially sticking valve, rocker arm, or potentially fuel injectors?

Sounds like HLA's (lifters). They are in the end of the rockers.

It can wear the valve guides out prematurely since the geometry of the rocker to the top of the valve will be askew. It can cause poor performance and excessive fuel consumption also. If your lucky you can just pop an HLA in the rocker. Pretty simple repair.

would you suggest placing new hla's on EVERY rocker? is there a way to distinguish which one(s) are screwy?

thanks a ton

It would probably be best to replace them all but you can remove the valve cover and tell which is bad by pushing on the rocker. The HLA's job is to maintain zero valve lash so the sloppy one will be it.

sounds achievable to me!

any idea if these trucks have a timing chain or belt? belt would be easier from my little experience. cam shaft must come off to get at the rockers right?

thanks again

It has a timing belt but the camshaft does not have to come out to remove the 2 rocker shafts. Just remove the valve cover and remove the 2 shafts with rockers attached.
