I have a 88 mazda b2200 5spd. I was wondering if anyone knows of any good mods. I have a Summit high performance coil, and a K&N drop in filter. Are there any free mods I'm not aware of(I know about port/polish). Open air intake? EGR delete? I'm doing an electric fan next, any suggestions?

I can say that removing the EGR isn't going to do much and after doing some testing on the flowbench porting and polishing will most likely do a lot more damage than good unless you REALLY know what your doing.

Biggest bang for your buck is a Weber carb and better exhaust (nothing above 2" pipe).

 

If I want to put a header on I'll have to remove the EGR? I always see pics of an open air carb cover lid on the Carter carbs, can I do that with the stock one? How much do the Carters run? Full exhaust(with header), elec. fan, and carb should kick gas milage up pretty good?

 

Um, I've never seen a Carter carb on a B2200. The most common carb used for performance is the Weber 32/36, anything else is an adaption. The EGR system is built into the intake manifold and #1 exhaust port in order to actually remove it you would have to do some pretty heavy mods. As long as everything is hooked up to the EGR valve and it is still installed it will still operate. All the stuff going to the stock air breather is for the PAIR system that allows the exhaust to suck in fresh air to burn off emissions in the cat. That would have to be removed with either headers or a carb. With a little fabrication you could adapt the stock air breather to an aftermarket carb but unless you REALLY want to keep it on there it will be removed with a set of headers.

 

U can upgrade the pcv pipe with a v8 tundra and groment it does fit but the mazda b22 is very restrictive

 

Just remove the egr put a plate in place of it. A header get the chrome painted will rust.a weber 32 36 and make sure timing is good. Rx7 lsd can be installed. I ground my cam down and it gave it some more kick nothing fancy just grind the heel down then polish. Shirt throw shift for fist gen miata will fit.i put an msd ignition on mine too I plan on turboing my truck. So stay tuned.
