Default 88 Mazda B2200 cold problems.

Hi, I have had this automatic carbureted B2200 for a bit over 10 years now. For the last few years it has had this problem that has gotten worse over time. After starting the truck I have to wait quite awhile before I can take off. If I put it in drive and go it will die. When I got the truck it only died like that when it was really cold outside and I didn't let it warm up.

I understand that the truck needs to warm up to work properly, but it is still dying in 100 degree heat outside when the engine is cool. When the truck warms up it drives fine. If I punch the gas hard when the engine hasn't been fully warmed, I can get the truck to move without dying.

It also seems very slow to warm up for the heat outside.

Things I would check would be:
1. Make sure the wire is connected from the choke heater to the rear of the alternator.
2. Make sure that the choke butterfly is not binding and is operational.
3. Install a new thermostat (factory or Stant) and make sure to bleed out all the air from the system when filling. I typically jack up the front of the truck when doing that.
