Default 2003 Mazda B3000 Revving every time clutch is pressed

2003 Mazda B3000 DS 3.0
Hey guys I'm new to Mazda forums! I've been having an issue with my truck for the past month to month and a half. So basically just about every time i push my clutch in my car revs up to 3500-4000 rpms and sustains for as long as 5 seconds some times. Its usually an immediate jump up, once I shift and let off the clutch, it jumps back down to regular rpms. The car will also self accelerate due to this issue and will take the throttle from my control. Usually shifting to neutral or braking to a shop and then popping out of gear makes the revving stop, not happen, or less intense. I've read a lot of things from a lot of different sources and for my own repairs, this is a list of what I've done and has not fixed any issues. PCV Valve and its corresponding vacuum hose, Idle air control sensor, throttle position sensor, cleaned throttle and adjusted the nut, checked filter and intake, spark plugs, and evap service port. This was all replaced within the last month. The only thing that fixed anything on the car was the TPS cuz I idled at 1500 before, and the PCV Vacuum hose got my fan speeds back. Car still revs really high. I brought it to a local Fleet Care shop and they told me it was the clutch, slave cylinder, and flywheel. But I called a well known good local transmission shop and they told me from the sound of the revving issue i explained over the phone, he doesn't think its the clutch at all. I also have an oil leak between the engine and transmission and my buddy said that's the rear main seal going bad and leaking oil. Could that be the cause of my revving??? I just want to not spend 1200-1500 bucks having someone change my clutch because I don't have time to change it myself nor feel comfortable doing it or have the resources to do it myself when the repair could be something entirely different.

Most of us here have little to no experience with the later 1994-on Mazda trucks which are essentially Ford Rangers. To me, it sounds like the return spring for the throttle body is broken or weak or damaged, and once you press down on the clutch pedal, with no actual load on the engine, the engine revs up.

Pretty much similar occurred on my 1988 B2200 when its carburetor return spring broke or when its carburetor secondary got stuck open.

You may want to explore some Ford Ranger forums. Those trucks had three completely different engine options, yours is the middle one.

Welcome to the forum.

I know that on the real Japanese trucks (B2000, B2200, & B2600i) there is a device called a "Clutch Switch" and when it is bad, it can cause the idle to change when depressing the clutch. Look under the dash at the clutch pedal & linkage and see if there is a smaller switching device similar to the brake light switch on the brake pedal.

With the clutch mechanism, there is a Starter Inhibit Switch more than likely also......that is usually a bit larger than the clutch switch, and is probably NOT causing your issue.

If you can post a pic or two of the clutch pedal linkage, and any switches there may be on it, we may be able to verify IF your year model B3000 has a clutch switch......and if it does, it may be bad and causing your issue. Let us know what you find!
