Hi all new to the site and i searched but didn't find exactly what i was looking for so here it goes. I bought the b3000 about a year ago from my uncle he says he nevered had a problem with the clutch and i trust him. I didn't notice any problems until I went out to warm it up one morning. I started the truck shifted to neutral and got out to clean the snow and ice off the truck by the time i got in the truck it had been running forfive tenminutes I stepped on the clutch which at the time did feel a little soft but not enough to really raise any alarms. Well i tried to shift into first and it just wouldn't go into first i could move the stick to the left but not forward at all. SO i tried to put it in reverse and it ground and squeeled. I turned the truck off and left it for the next day when i had time i came out and checked the clutch fluid it was low but not by alot i added some fluid andpumped the clutch a few times still seemed soft so i turned it on and still same problem but this time when i tried to put it in first the truck moved forward like the gears were trying to mesh? I turned the truck off and it shifted into first fine while motor was off so i tried to start truck in gear and it started but with clutch pressedto the floor trucked moved forward slowly and when i let the clutch out it drove normally down the street and into the driveway.At this point I was thinking master or slave cylinder a friend said if it was them to look for leaking fluid I checked both andneither appears to be leaking.
Sorry about the long winded story but i figured more info was better then less at this point.

The most common problem is the slave cylinder. It is in the transmission bell housing so is hard to see and requires trans removal. You might be able to bleed it and get a few thousand more miles from it. To bleed it you usually have to jack the rear of the vehicle up because of the way they have the master cyl mounted. If you replace it you should go ahead and replace the entire clutch as it is labor intensive.

 

If Somebody wouldn't mind posting the steps for bleeding the system or pm them to me would be great. wasn't sure if there was a bleeder valve or what anyways thanks again for the help

 

I asked a friend about bleeding the clutch system and he told me that if i jacked the back of my truck up in the air and pulled the cap of the resivoir, turn on the truck and pump the pedal a ton that the air if in the system will work its way up and out. I was just wondering if anyone knew how true this was or if there is a better way to do this?

 

Its not hard to beed the bleeder comes out the drivers side of the trans bell housing. Jack the back of the truck up,crawl underneath and have someone pump the clutch pedal and hold it to the floor. Then open and close the bleeder and repeat a few times making sure the resevoir is full of fluid.

Also you do not need the truck running.
