Mazda BT 50 & Pickup TrucksWhile Mazda may not be known for their trucks, they have always produced quality reliable trucks for both hauling cargo, or simply crusing. BT 50
Hi, check engine light came on so I grounded the single wire under the hood thats attached to the green plug then I turned the ignition on. The check engine light came on but does not flash. What am I doing wrong? Thanks
These trucks have a way to reset the check engine light by swapping two single pin wire terminals under the driver's side dash. The check engine lights in these Mazda trucks are there mainly to let you know to take it into the dealer so they can charge you good money to "look it over, then reset the light" for you! The B2600i is a timing chain motor, unlike the B2000, & B2200 engines that need their timing belts changed every 60,000 miles.......hence the main reason for the check engine light coming on every 60,000 miles.
Here are a couple of pics so you can locate the wires that you need to swap to turn your CEL off.
See the two wires with the white connectors on the ends that are plugged into each other? Yours might look the same, or maybe one white is plugged into the black connector next to it.......either way, unplug the two wires, and plug in the one connector that is hanging there by itself......and your CEL light will be reset! It's as simple as that! You probably don't have any "issues"......Mazda just want's you to take it to the dealer!
I just tried that but the check engine light came on and stayed on. I suspect its the oxygen sensor because the truck has 200.000 miles on it, the sensor looks origanal and the engine runs the same. But a code has been set so I need to know for sure. thank you
