Default RE: towing?

Here is what I posted in the Protege area about trans fluid:
If you do not have it changed on a regular basis, changing the fluid is taking a gamble whether it will help or hinder it. If your fluid is still red in color and does not have a burnt smell, it might be okay. But if it brownish and smells old, I would leave it alone. If you want to service the trans, it is best to go with a complete fluid flush. I used to do these on a regular basis with good results to most cars and trucks. BG is a company that has a great service kit for a flush. It must be done at a shop though. This company also makes great additives for the rest of the car too.
I also did a trans service and flush together on some cars, that way the filter gets changed too.

I would say go ahead and put a good cooler on your car, it is basically cheap insurance!
