The steering wheel ignition lock is not working on my 1990 626 GT. Is there any way to fix it without having to purchase and install a whole new key cylinder? I haven't opened up the housing where the key cylinder is in the steering wheel yet, so I don't know if I can troubleshoot it on my own. Has anyone run into this issue on their 1988-1992 626 before?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

To clarify my issue, the locking mechanism isn't working. The ignition starts the car when I turn the key, but when I remove the key from the cylinder, the steering wheel does not lock, it can be turned. Has it simply worn out? Can the locking mechanism be fixed without replacing the existing cylinder?
