Default Passenger Door lock does not work

Whats up people, I am new to this forum due to my new purchase of a 99 626 4 cyl. I am trying to fix some little issues with the car and one thing I came across was the passenger door handle does not work. I think something might of come loose inside becuase it does not sound like something broke. Any how, I am pretty good with my hands and figuring things out, but before I go and take the door panel off, I was wondering if there was anything I should watch out for when taking it off? Is it held on with snaps that just take a little force to come off once you unscrew the plastic screws, or is there something hidden I may have to do. Any suggestions, adivice or help would be greatly appreciated. Also If you would like to comment really quickly on how you like the car or what problems you might of had, that would be helpful as well. Thanks for taking the time out to read and repond to this.

Paul

Will post a picture of the front trim inner panel that shows location of the hidden screws and clips. You did not say if it was the inner or outer handle and am assuming the front door and not rear.
FRONT DOOR TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION
Remove the regulator handle if equipped with a manual window.
Remove the inner sail garnish.
Remove the screw to remove the inner handle adn pull away from trim.
Remove the plastic cover to remove the lower screw.
Peel up fabric in inner pull.
Remove the screw.
Remove the fasteners (3)..
Pull the front door trim towards you to disengage clips A from the body.
Pull the front door trim upward to disengage hooks B from the body.

fixed the problem, after dismantling the lock, it looks as though the car had remote door openers on it and the lady did not give me the remote. The gear in the remote mechanism was stuck so the door would stay in the loced position. Thanks for your help

Hi,
I"m having a similar problem and I used your steps to get the door cover off. It was extremely difficult for me to remove the remote mechanism. Any chance you could give me some tips on how to dismantle it properly as now that I took it apart and put it back together teh door close and opens fine but I can't seem to lock the door anymore. Any help would be great. Also, I saw that gear inside the gearbox of the lock has been stripped... Is there anywhere I can get a replacement for this?
Thanks!
