Default Mazda 323 SE, Help!

Hi there

I'm new to the board, but am hoping that some of you knowledgable people will be able to help me and my mum.

Mum's and the '91 323 SE for 9 years. It's been great, never failed an MOT and not caused any problems or had any major work done, (apart from the usual, tyre, brake and exhaust updates).

All was great until a few months ago when it started cutting out for no reason. Eventually it cut out and wouldn't restart. It went into the garage and they didn't know what was causing it, but changed the Ignition Module. All was fine for a few weeks then it started cutting out again, until it cut out and wouldn't restart again. The ignition module was replaced again and all was fine, until today when it started cutting out again. Everything else on the car has been looked at and nothing else seems to be at fault.

Has anyone else had a similar problem? How did you resolve it? Does anyone have any ideas on how we can fix it? Please help us, as my mum sometimes has the kids in the car and it's dangerous when it cuts out.

If you have any ideas, please let me know by personal message.

Thanking you all in advance for any advice

Lou & mum

Not sure if this will help given the description of modules fixing for a time but have you checked and/or replace the distributor rotor? They have a bad habit of getting holes burnt thru them and allowing the spark to ground out to the distributor shaft. Is worth a look as it is quite common and cheap to try as a potential fix.
Not sure why changing the module would make things all better for a couple weeks and then come back though???
