Default Mazda 323 protege/Familia 1995 b6 Engine Swap

Hi Legends,

I imagine this topic has been covered numerous times, I just couldn't seem to find all the info I need.

I brought a 1995 Mazda familia/323 5 spd manual as a project car, I used to own a Familia Sedan Turbo 10 years ago now I really really want one as a weekend car to work on with the young fella.

I understand the GTX/GTR are rare as hens teeth and like 15-20k here in Australia, fortunately I've found a couple good donor cars, one being a Familia turbo and a Tx3 turbo laser.

I'm just wondering where to start really, is it worth it?, or should I try and wait for a few years till a good gtx comes up in my price range.

Would really love to try and do a conversion with the help of a good mechanic here in Brisbane, I just want to know what I should look to buy and if it's a pretty straight forward swap, I've seen that the bpt engine will bolt straight up in a familia with a b8 in it, but I believe mine is a b6.

So not really sure if it's a viable swap, would really appreciate any help or advice you guys/gal's would have for me.

Thanks everyone.
