1992 323 astina sp

the water pump was replaced recently...ever since then there has been a high pitched whining noise coming fromaround the engine along with an associated smell of something burning (rubber?)..
could it be;
timing belt?
v-belt to alternator?
power steering pump belt?
the new after market water pump?
alternator bearing?

the whining gets worse after the engine gets hotter...
