Erratic ignition switch 323 BF
Dear fellow enthusiasts, I'm having an issue with my '85 Mazda 323 hatchback that I cannot isolate. When turning the ignition key, the car won't start. There's not even a click from the starter solenoid. The battery is fine. It's only when I turn the key back into the accessory position that the starter motor engages. I've ruled out the inhibitor switch (car's automatic).
Could the ignition switch be the problem? The car is low mileage (only 30K) so I'm not thinking of excessive wear for now.
The other thing that's unusual is the courtesy light door switch, which isn't working on the driver's side. The light comes on when the passenger door is opened. I'm not sure if there is any connection but I mention this just in case there is (short circuit maybe?).
Thanks for any help,
Tempur
