Engine cut off

Hi, I had a problem with my Mazda 323 FE (1991) a few days ago, while the car is running on the motorway, the engine will suddenly stop, rpm drop to zero. If I turn the ignition key to off and put it back to on (just before starting the engine) and release the clutch, the momentum will start the car but after a while, the engine will cutoff again. This happened a few time (which is very dangerous, especially while I am on the motorway). I am unable to start the car again in the next morning, the battery is charged, there is patrol, when I turn the key, I can hear the starter motor trying to start but it just doesn't starts. I tested the output (high voltage) of the ignition coil and there is no spark while there is 12V input. I am not sure whether the ignition coil is working and I am not sure is there anything else is broken. Any idea what could be wrong? Thanks and hope to hear from you soon.

RE: Engine cut off

From what you describe, it sure sounds like an igniter problem The igniter is what conrols the coil and the tachometer. The igniter is also not a device that you can test with a meter being good or bad, as it is solid state.

I can tell by your english that you are not in the US, no problem though.:D Why I say that is because i only have specific info on US models.
