Dash lights up when brake pedal pushed

Dash lights up when brake pedal pushed
I noticed something strange on my son's 1998 626. When you apply the brakes the dash lights/parking lights come on. I also noticed that when you turn on the headlights the brake lights are on, including the center one. I know that can't be a good thing. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
