brakes wearing unevenly
i searched the forums and couldnt find anything about this... for some reason the rear drivers side brakes on my 2000 626 are wearing unevenly. there was probably a good 3/16 of an inch left on the outer pad and the inner pad was down to nothing. what could possibly be the problem?
Slides.
Dismount thecaliper and remove the pads and rotor.
Remount the caliper and see how hard it is to move it back and forth (in and out).
I bet your slides are rusted into place and need a good cleaning and lubing.
Pop them out and wire wheel (or sand paper) the rust/grime away.
If there're boots on the caliper remove them and bore out the metal hole.
Rust builds between the caliper and rubber, thus making the entire hole smaller. Couple this with slides that are getting bigger because of rust and viola!
You can buy brake slide lube at any local parts chain.
Just be sure it's of good quality and high temperature.
