Default '99 Mazda 626 spewing oil?? PLEASE HELP

I have a 1999 Mazda 626. 4cyl automatic. Here is what happened:

It was the first time I had driven this car over 60mph. I was on a toll road going about 70mph. I started to slow down to the tollbooth, when my "overdrive off" light started blinking. Now, when overdrive is off, the light stays solid. I had never seen it blink. The tollbooth operator told me my car was smoking, so I pulled over.

I opened the hood, and there was oil EVERYWHERE! I found where it was coming from. It is a small hose behind the radiator towards the front mid-right side of the car. The weird thing is, the hose is only connected on one end. The other end looks brand new, not even stretched like it had been connected. That hose is what was spitting oil everywhere. I turned the car off and waited a few minutes, and I could get maybe another 3 miles and it did it again.

The car did not overheat, temperature stayed normal. I ended up having to stop several times.

I got it home, and driving around town the last couple days it does PERFECT!

Can anyone tell me if that hose is supposed to be connected to anything (I've included a picture) ? Why would it do it at high speed (over 60 mph), but not around town driving??

My oil volume is still in the normal range as well.

Check your transmission fluid, you do so with the car fully warmed up and engine RUNNING, gear selector in park. Sometimes the transmission dipstick is hard to find. Also avoid any moving parts when you reach in there. I suspect one of the hoses for the transmission cooler came off.

the trans fluid was overfilled or the trans overheated, the hose you are referring to is the vent line coming off of the front cover of the trans. for that trans (98-02 FS 2.0l)
set the fluid level at the bottom of the hatch marks on the dipstick (after the engine/trans are warmed up) if the trans still overheats and purges fluid
you may need to replace it and or install the trans cooler kit mazda sells to combat this issue.
