97 626 rough stumbling idle & hesitation
I haveread through 50 pages of posts and have seen this problem over and over.
I am working on a 1997 626 for a friend and I can't figure it out. It has no codes stored in the computer but it stumbles at idle and hesitates when you give it anything past 15% throttle. It also starts rough after it warms up and dies.
I have cleaned the MAF and throttle body. All of the plugs have perfect color. I have also checked the intake tube and don't see or feel any cracks.
From other posts I have seen that it is most likely the MAF, Throttle position sensor or idle air control valve. If anyone has fixed one with the same problems as I described please let me know. I don't want to just throw parts at it but it looks like that is the next step.
Thanks for the help

RE: 97 626 rough stumbling idle & hesitation
An update to the problem.
If I start the car and it starts to studder, I can disconnect the MAF and it smooths out and idles fine. But it still has a hesitation when trying to give it gas with the MAF disconnected. If I give it less than 10-15% throttle it will rev up just fine but if I give it any more than that it will bog down and die until I let off the gas.
Does this mean that the MAF is the one and only problem or can it still be someting else?
Thanks
Aaron
