Default 929 sunroof stuck in tilt position

I have a '93 929, and I opened the sunroof in the tilt position. When I press the switch to bring the sunroof back down, nothing happens (no sound, no clicking of the motor). The other sunroof switch, when pressed, causes a clicking sound (relay?, motor?) and the dash lights dim. This makes me think that the problem might be electrical rather than mechanical. The sunroof has been used very little over the years.

Any ideas how to fix this?

On a related note, the owner's manual says that I can manually close the sunroof using a screwdriver. However, when I tried to stick a screwdriver in the appropriate slot, I noticed a metal nub of some sort in the middle of the slot, which prevents the use of a screwdriver. I could use some help here too.

Thanks for the help,
David
