Default 92 323 starting problems

This post is to help my neighbor out. His car is a 93 323 hatch Automatic. Just a few days ago it randomly wouldnt start. starter does not turn over, or click or make any sounds at all. So he decided to change the starter..... So now with the new starter somehow it magicaly started up..problem solved right? Negative. it only started once then went right back to what it was doing before. NO click sound..nothing. very strong voltage at the battery and at the starter. Checked all the fuses and everything is good. checked connections at the starter (not fun to get to) and everything seems fine. Heres the funny part, so after looking at everything he closed the hood and boom it started up just fine. over and over again. So it seems like maybe theres a loose wire maybe? and when the hood got closed thats why it started. Just wondering where we should look, any help is appreciated. maybe its ignition related? is there a relay i dnt know about...again, thanks for any help
