Default 626LX 1997 2.0L automatic doors unlock rarely working

A few times recently the doors did unlock when I pressed the Unlock button on my remote (Viper 3105v security system), but usually the button does disable the alarm but fails to jack up the lock buttons on the 4 doors (it tries, but doesn't manage to get the driver's side door button to pop, which would trigger the other 3 buttons to pop). I think this gets better in warmer weather but not so much recently. When this happens I have to use the key to get in the car. I figure something's stopping the button from popping up on the driver's side door (I can pull it up with my finger once I get in the car). Maybe sticking? I tried squirting graphite in the crevices several times but that hasn't obviously helped. Maybe something's wrong with the actuator on that door. I figure I can remove the panel and see if I can do something to facilitate the button popping up, maybe oil or graphite somewhere.

I have another problem in that the driver's side door's speaker has gone silent. I think that coincided with a shop removing my old security system (Crime Guard) before I had Best Buy put in the Viper 3105v security system a couple months ago. I called the shop and they told me the speaker's probably died and they wanted $175 to remove the panel and $36 for a new set of speakers. I doubt the speaker's gone bad (only 36K on the car and moderate climate). I figure when I get the panel off I can check that speaker and see if it's working (connect to an amp). If it's working I can call the shop and tell them that and insist they reconnect it to the radio/cassette player - I figure when they ripped out the old security system they accidently disconnected the speaker.

Please comment as appropriate. Suggestions appreciated.

What is this? I get a prompt to download what appears to be an application installation, an EXE, that will install a PDF reader. I already have a PDF reader.

Today I went out to my car to check on contents of my glove compartment. I pressed unlock on my remote and to my amazement, all the doors unlocked. First time that's happened in months. I usually have to use the key to get in the car. After locking the car it wouldn't unlock again by pressing the unlock button on the remote, the now "normal" behavior. I intend to take off the driver's side front door inside panel and see if I can figure something out.
