Default 323 Exhaust?

Well I think that there might be a problem with my muffiler.
Because when I sometimes have the A/C on I get some vibrations coming from the rear end and when I turn it off most of the time it goes away or it subsides a lot but is still there a little. I am thinking that the mounts might be lost or messed up or that I might need a new muffiler.

I don't know, it kind of makes a rattiling noise back there. like if you leave a tool on you hood and start up the car and the part rattles on the hood untill it falls off.

I would just like to figure it out. I am wanting to put on a new muffiler any way. So yeah I was also wondering what kind to get for a 92 323 1.6 liter 4cly. I mean its a little car. I want something to make it sound better but not break the bank.

So if any one could point me in the right direction, that would be alwsome thanks.

Easiest way to locate an exhaust rattle is to safely jack up the car first. Next, wrap a thick rag around your fist and tap the exhaust system with the side of your hand. Thats how I find them.

I really liked Flowmaster mufflers on my V8 trucks, don't know how they would sound on a 4 cyl.

cool I'll give it a try but what am I listening for? I mean just a rattle?

Yeah I wish I could put some cool flowmasters on my little 4cyl. I am just trying to find something that makes it sound deeper or richer. right now is sound kind of high pitched.

but yeah just any tips that or any ideas that would be great thanks.

You were complaining of a rattle...[sm=icon_beat.gif] LOL! When I said to tap on the exhaust, that should isolate it. It might be a loose heat shield, or rocks in a heat shield, a muffler baffle problem, or catalytic converter rattling.

Lol yeah I was just making sure, its hard to say. I just put on the new fule filter and man was it hard to get back on. The line shrunk on me and I had such a hard time putting the bottem hose back on from under neath the car.

I did it, two reopened cuts and four busted nuckles later.

Yeah at least I don't have to worry about that one for a long time.

I haven't had time to check the muffiler but I will.

I like Dynomax muffler the round type. It sounded good on my 91' 323, but my motor was 1.8L DOHC.
