2002 Mazda 323 SP20
I have just bought a 2002 Mazda 323 SP20. It's been very well looked after and has got really low km's for its age.
I had a look under the bonnet and I can't seem to find anything!!! I was looking for the oil filter, (this was before i bought the car from a caryard) so that i could put a mark on it to make sure they changed the filter with the service they were going to do.
Couldn't find that.
Then i had a quick look around for the spark plugs...no where to be seen! Although i do know some of these later model cars don't have spark plugs, but im pretty sure this one does. Anyone know where they might be lol
Mind you I havent been on my hands and knees yet to look under the engine.

I saw your profile and noticed you are in Australia. I can try to help a bit, but have no info on non US models. If this 323 has a gasoline engine, it must have spark plugs...vs. a diesel. The spark plugs will be right in front or on the top and center of the valve cover. Every Mazda Ive ever worked on the oil filter is on the back of the engine in about the center under the intake manifold.

Well yes I'm from that big continent you call down under.
I have no idea on what differences there would be between the US models. My mazda was produced in Japan.
As for the oil filter I still havent ventured under the car. Yeh its a petrol car. I actually saw a Hyandai Getz on Gas the other day, couldn't stop laughing!

The biggest difference in Mazdas is that a 323 has not been made for the USA since the early 90's. I do not know what your car might be similar to in a US version. BTW, I have never heard of a Hyundai Getz...

This is what I found when I googled what you said. Your car must look similar.

I think over here the 323's are now called 3's. So now we have a mazda 2, 3 and 6
bkey71 - Yes that pic does look like my car.
A Hyandai Getz is the cheapest ( if bought brand new) and most economical car you can get in Australia. That why I laughed when i saw it on gas!
