Default Hey whats up with this?

I was looking around the AEM website and they have a dyno graph for a 2003 Mazda 6i (same as mine) and granted yes they claim very good numbers but I thought the 2.3L put out 160hp not 130! Is this b/c its at the wheels and there are 30hps lost from the crank to the wheels? Or is this info faulty? Just wondering it kinda contridicted my prior knowledge. Any answers would be good to know but I guess not much to be done about it anyway.

The car in their test is/was an automatic (AT) too. There's a lot of power train loss through the use of a traditional slushbox. I thought you had the 5-sp?

No unfortunatly no i don't, when I bought her I was barly 16 and learned on an auto and didn't know how to drive a stick and cou;d not find for the life of me a person to teach me until about two months ago and now that I am practiced with a few manuals I wish it were a 5 spd, but alas it is not .

So would you say that those numbers at the wheels are pretty representitive of the AT 4spd then?

Yup! I've read 139 @ the wheels w/the 5-sp. It wouldn't surprise me at all to lose at least 9hp to an ATX.
And sorry to hear that....

Yeah, the posted ratings are never for whp. It's kind of like the Neons back in the 90s being rated @140 according to the dealerships but the DOHC's would dino around 115-120, would actually vary up to 5hp depending upon how well the intake manifold was machined, etc. There are a lot of factors involved with Mazda 6's that can cause the dyno hps to vary from car to car by a couple of horsepower. Even oil can effect this.
