unique problem, turn signals
Hello everybody. I'm looking for some input here. I have a 96 mazda 626. When I first bought it, everything worked fine. About 2 weeks later the running lights quit working and the turn signals/hazards atarted working intermittantly. The running light problem was an easy fix, just had to splice the broken green wire in the column. I do have electrical experience.
Now, the turn signal problem has me extremely baffled. They work intermittantly. Usually they don't, but when they do evrything works fine, even the hazards. When they aren't working, the flasher clicks and sounds like its working and the hazards don't click. So when the signals are suppossed to be on, I get the clicking but nothing else, not even the dash arrow indicators.
I have replaced the 7 pin flasher, verified ground to it, verified 12v on each leg input when that switch is on, verified flashing output(with analogue voltmeter, seen needle jumping with clicks).
After that, I cannot find where the wires go, is there another common junction for the outputs? or do I have 4 or more wires with intermittant connectivity?
So any help I would appreciate it! Thanks
Eric

Not seeing that there is only one connector that would tie in with both of the output signals to the signal lights. The wires all enter the Joint box or under dash fuse box and then exit again to front, rear, and dash. Am only able to get to a diagram for a 99 model so 96 may be a little different and will not be able to get to diagram for 96 until Monday.99 diagrams shows output signal for left side to be Green with black stripe and right side to be Lightgreen. Wire color remains the same going into the joint box and back out but that will probably not be much help. Might want to at least check the connectors at the joint box and see if any look discolored/burnt but not suspecting that you will.
Now looking at a 96 diagram and there is a connector that could take out all outputs after the flasher unit. Green w/ black stripe is still the left side output but right side output should be Green w/ white stripe. The JB-03 connector out of the fuse box looks to be the only one in common to all of the lights. This connector is the first one plugged into theunderdash fuse box straight up from the rows of fuses. Wire colors are the same at this connector for both outputs so might check for voltage pulse there. Might want to even visually double check that ground connection. It is also located right in the same area as the fuse box. Should be five wires joined together in a white connector box and grounded/bolted to the body sheet metal with a 10mm bolt. Four of the wires in the grounding block will be black and one should be black with yellow stripe. Should be the only ground point in the area.
Awesome! Thanks for the help! I knewthere had to be one common location that I was overlooking, and it's hard to follow that loom under the dash. I really appreciate it, I'll look for that connector tomorrow night.
