Good afternoon, I have attempted to replace the rear brakes on my 1982 Mazda 323. Australian version, if that makes a difference. The self adjuster is not the threaded “ screw” type, but a flat bar, one end sticks out the rear of the backing plate and is connected to the handbrake, the other end has a crescent shaped arm that pushes onto the brake shoe. This arm pivots, it has a toothed section which activates against a toothed wheel. Finally, my question. That toothed wheel, logically, should turn. Neither side does. The wheels are jammed. Or are they? I feel they should turn, perhaps I’m wrong, any advice?
