Default Starting issues

Have an '87 rx7 n/a. Sometimes it starts fine, others it floods really bad. Starts more often when cold, or right after I shut it off and try to start again. Ive got new plugs... denso iridium and 10mil wires. That didn't help. Any suggestions?

rx7 are known for there flooding problems, usally indicates the engine is getting low on compression , we used to install fuel cut off
switches in the fuel pump relay under the dash by the steering column , black with yellow 6 pin connector! this will allow u to kill the
fuel to the engine if it floodes out, any mazda dealer can install this switch for u if u request it.

hey there, ive just joined so i dont know if youve fixed the prob, but if not theres a wire that goes to the computer, if you fit up a switch to it it will cut the fuel to your engine, then as you crank it will start and then switch it back to closed circiut and away you go
it is a normal rx7 thing it thinks it has to add more fuel to start your engine when it really needs less,

if you need more info on this i wil have to look up the plug pin number but thats no drama, let us know!
and sorry if im to late with this info

Fuel injected vehicles have a routine in the computer called "Clear Flood Mode" to engauge this mode you hold the gas to the floor while cranking then let off as soon as it starts. When the computer sees the gas is floored when it starts it should automatically reduce the fuel getting sent to the engine and should continue to limit it for a second or two after the engine starts to run.
