Default Question about cold weather

I'm an old dog, but I can still learn new tricks.

Today, I heard someone say that letting your car idle/warm up for more than 2 minutes during cold weather (like Saskatchewan cold) is extremely harmful for new engines, especially skyactive engines.

Is thus dude full of it, or have I actually been doing damage to my engine for 4 years?

2016 CX3 GT.

Ya full of it... while most claim and suggest on "THE INBTERNET" that you start and drive we that understand dissimilar metal expansion know what really happens when thing do not get a changes to warm before driving. So letting it run a couple of minutes IMHO a good thing. Besides if you fly you never take off before your have the proper running temperature and all the pressures are as they should be. Why should those gasoline internal combustion engines be any different during the first few minutes from a cold start then with w land based engine? HA!

I have had 4 oil analysis performed and also have scoped my intake and combustion chamber and in 32+K miles there is NO HARM in any way to my engine. I start the engine let it run through the start process of *30-45 seconds. Then I never exceed 1800rpm until the coolant as reach 129.9F and then do not exceed 2500 until I have reached 159F coolant temperature. By this time I am *open loop for ECU Ho2 input and the engine and transmission has reach best operating temperature.

I guess if it were so harmful as some arm chair wonders think there would not be a dealer options for a block warmers and remote start? LOL
