I have a bit of a problem with my '01 Protege. All of the fan speeds work from 1-4 when using regular vent air or heat. However, when I press the A/C button it only works reliably on speed 1. It used to work reliably on speeds 1 and 4 but it has progressively gotten worse. Speeds 2 and 3 have been spotty.

I've definitely heard of others having this problem before but I haven't come across a definitive solution. Some say it's the switch. Others say it's the blower resistor. Has anybody here experienced this problem and if so do you know exactly what the fix for it was? I would appreciate your input so much!

 

It sounds like a blower resistor just disconnected the blower resistor and see if you have your feeds to the resistor from the switch if you do replace the resistor .
