Default Playing Music from USB

I have a 2023 Mazda C5 which until recently was playing music from a USB stick via an A to C adaptor. And thennit just stopped - not recognising the stick from either of the ports.

I spoke to the dealer who said that in order to play music from a USB stick I needed a 'c' stick. When I pointed out that it had played via an adaptor for the past 12 months he just shrugged.

I will try a C stick - but does anyone have any other suggestions. For example there is about 60gb worth of files onbthe stick - is that too much for the infotainment system to handle?

I have 48.4gb on my USB stick & it works okay with a direct connect to either USB port. The only funny thing is once in awhile (rare) it will start the playing to the beginning instead of at the point of continuing. BTW: I don't know what a "C" stick is.

'C' is the size of connection the port accepts directly. Many USB sticks are 'A' size and therefore for require an A to C adaptor in order to connect with the car.

Maybe the adapter is the problem? Could try a different one if you have one.

Hi - did solve the problem. Following some investigation the usb stick had become corrupted and whilst it did store files it didn't interact with the Mazda entertainment system . A new flash drive with a 'C' connection direct into the slot (no adaptor) fixed it. Currently playing 50gb of files no problem.

Mazda seems to be very, very sensitive regarding USB. Maybe it's about quality... or something else.
I have 2015 CX5 and sometimes it is playing music from USB with no problem, sometimes it is not recognizing at all. It is for different sticks but also for same ones after loading new data...
