mazda 626 fuel problem
have installed new fuel pump, fuel relay is good, acts like it is losing run signal to fuel pump relay, have fuel pressure gage hooked up can be driving down road wth 45 pounds fuel pressure it will drop below 40 psi and die sometimes after 1 mile sometimes after 15 miles. can turn key off and sometimes restarts immediately sometimes restarts after 5-10 minutes
I've got a '99 Protege 1.8L FP engine (4 cyl.), 93,000 km.
The fuel rail pressure is specified as 33 +/- 3 psi. at idle, 42 +/- 3 running (simulated by disconnecting the vacuum line). If your car is of comparable technology, you might have an issue with PCV, clogged fuel line, filter, fuel pressure regulator, or PRC solenoid.
You don't state year, mileage, CEL status, OBD codes, raw fuel smell, CEL on/off, prior history, how maintained etc. etc. so it's pretty much guesswork. You should proceed methodically and not try to find the problem by replacing everything in your fuel system and EVAP loop hoping to get lucky.
The chances of getting lucky are far exceeded by the chances of getting poor.
