Default mazda 323 err radio problem year 2001 ireland

Hi,i recently got a secondhand radio for my 01 reg mazda 323 as my own had a problem ejecting cds.....but i was not able to get a code for the second hand one and i didnt expect it to need a code.....its coming up with ERR at the moment but i am hoiping that i will be able to get it back to the enter code step(i have read posts on how to get it back to this step)...if i can get to that step, would anyone know i code that might work?? or is there any universal code??someone told me if you take the radio out and put it in freezer it resets the code or makes it forget about the code??!!any truth to this??or is it madness

Regards
Adrian

That type of audio unit does not have any theft deterent function at least in the US market. Perhaps you have a bad base unit. If your old radio worked just fine except for the problem with ejecting CD's, you might try just using your old base unit and the CD module from the new unit and see if that combination will work. The CD module is easily removed from base unit by removing the 4 pink colored screws ( two on each side ), and then lifting the CD module straight up and away from the base unit. There should even be directions on a label on top of the CD module. Hope that helps out a little.
