Default Hello to all

Hope i'm at the right place to post this. Hello to all, since late 2008 i have liked the Mazda 3 5 door hachback. I went online to check it out father. Then i notice; what is a speed3? WoW!!! I read up on the reviews, an how it's taken down competors since it's introduction in 2007. Then i check out Youtube, i fell in love. Finally here 2 1/2 months ago, i saw one in the paper. Went to test drive it, a 2009 Metro Grey Mica. It knocked my socks off. Then i test drove 2010 speed3, Nice very nice, but I just love the older body style thou. My father went with me an he said the '09 was much quicker. Well, I finally purchased the 2009 Metro Grey Mica, it had 2,600 miles on it. Wow!!! Then i researched a little more, the 1st owner put on a Mazdaspeed CAI and Mazdaspeed sport exhaust.

I have two questions: 1. how much more hp do both of the CAI and Exhaust put out?
2. Do i need to get it dyno and get it tuned? Plus someone said i mite have to redo the fuel layout cause of the mods.

Thank You,

Christopher

Congrats on the new ride, Chris, and Welcome to the MazdaForum!!
How much? 2.5hp/3lb.ft/tq. In other words, I don't really know for sure, but it's not likely to be that much that you would even notice.
No, you do not have to tune it. And no, you do not have to get it dynoed, unless you want to. A dyno at this time could act as a "base" (standard) for any further tuning you might want to do later. BUT, keep in mind that depending on all sorts of other conditions such as humidity or temperature, your mood at the time, whether or not you were drinking heavily the night before, etc, it would ONLY be an approximate average of what the output might actually be.
And it is also dependant on brand of the dyno used, the software it is reading and the dyno operator and how he/she interprets the information on the graph.
The CAI and exhaust probably don't do much in overall output. A change in temperature or humidity could affect the wheel hp/tq to an affect to negate (or improve on) those "bolt-on" mods.
The best way to dyno and get more accurate information is to have a few mods in mind and on the floor, do a base run, of usually of 3, then install the mods and do another run of 3, all on the same day under the same weather conditions.

Awesome, thank you so much. Never thought of the temperature or humidity. It's good to know people of the same interest and knowledge as well.
