Front vibration

Hello all.
My wife has a 06 Mazda 3. Bought it in the summer.
We had custom wheels on it and noticed a vibration in the front. Thought it to be out of balanced/worn tires. Have wheel hop when cornering hard left.
We put our winter rims on and still have the vibration. Could it be a bad strut?

Are there any noises going on with this?

No noises. Settles down after you drive a couple of kilometres, but never goes away. Always have wheel hop when cornering hard.

Steco:
Typically wheel hop is a noisy affair. So I am not 100% sure that "wheelhop" is the correct diagnosis. It is often caused by weak suspension bushings. Learn more here:mc˛racing

How many miles does the car have? Any accidents in the past?

It could also be a weak strut, or bad alignment. The fact that it keeps going would suggest it is a bad strut. Have a good look at the strut by pushing up the dust cover and see if it leaks oil. Even if there is no leak it could be bad. I once had a strut that was dry because all the oil was gone.
Do the shake test in the drive way. Most people push down on the fender. I can't do this because I am not heavy enough. I open the driver's door and push the far end of the door up and down. A good strut should settle the car as soon as I let go of the door.
There is another way: Get a GoPro camera.....You always wanted one, now you have an excuse. ;-)
Struts can easily wear out after 75000 miles (140000 km or so).

Good luck.
