Default Blown head gaskets

why are Mazdas so prone to blown head gaskets after 100k? Both of my Mazdas reached 100K mile roughly about the same time. Both ended up with blown head gaskets!! In talking with other people that have owned Mazdas they say the same thing. It doesn't seem to be with just one model. I have heard this from Mazda 3 owners also. They say they tell people to get rid of them before they reach 100K.

What is the problem? Poor head gaskets??

I'm not aware of any head gasket problems with and Mazda 3's. Most likely its poor maintenance ( or incorrect maintenance) and driver abuse/neglect.

we have 2 99 millenias, 2.3(supercharger), both with about 150k. never had a problem with head gaskets. which is rare to non existent on a 2.3, and this engine runs a LOT of boost. even on the 2.5, very uncommon. we also had an 88 323gtx, and 88 323gt, both with 1.6 turbocharged engines, both well over 100k before i sold them. and the new owners went over 200k before i lost contact with them. so perhaps it is confined to later mazda engines?

Default Maintenance

Thanks for the responses! In both of my cases I know that we always had the oil changed and such routinely. So it wasn't from poor maintenance.

Just having the oil changed doesn't mean the car has been properly serviced.
What grade oil was used? & was the coolant ever replaced? & if so was genuine coolant used?

Not having a go at anyone, but cars need full maintenance following the Manufactures schedule, using the correct parts on time & on mileage.

Being a Mazda Master Tech I've seen the consequence of poor maintenance & missed maintenance.
