99 protege problems!
okay so here are the problems, when i'm driving theres a very loud humm/vibration noise coming from the rear passenger side, it does not change with the rpms, leading me to believe it could be something with the wheel or bearings? also when i'm making a right turn it willl stop making the noise, but not for a left turn.
second, the overdrive light is flashing at me!
it's a 99 protege lx

Sounds as though you might have a wheel bearing fault, jack the rear of the vehicle up and spin both rear wheels , you will hear a slight noise but if you hear a rough grinding noise this will indicate a faulty wheel bearing . I assume you are refering to the Auto transmission , Im in the U.K we dont have as many auto as you guys do and our diagnostics are a bit different. You will have to have the D.T.C memory inspected to find out what is causing the fault. Let me know what code you find and i will try my best to advise you.
Most probably wheel bearing, but just a chance it could be brake or handbrake related problem. It should be pretty apparent because it seems as though the drag is suffient to make the engine labor to the point where it won't stay in overdrive. After a run, you could compare the temperatures of the two rear wheel rims because it looks whatever it is, its bad enough to cause some heat difference.
