92 b2600i idle issues
I very rarely get any replies in the truck section for any of my posts, thought I would try here. My truck has had an idle issue for years. I cleaned the MAF(though I learned it's self-cleaning) and I cleaned the throttle body. The throttle body was filthy and after cleaning it my truck ran fine for a week which it hadn't done in 14 years. It went back to the dropping low idle like before so I took off the IAC and cleaned that. The gasket broke in pieces so I tried a couple places and the dealer to get a new one but nobody makes it so I made one. Around this point the idle got worse, starting really high and then fluctuating back and forth. I've adjusted the TPS to no avail. I replaced the rotor and cap. Last year I had the ICU refurbished though that never changed anything. I checked the vacuum hoses and they seem fine. I did notice that when I take off the hose from the air cleaner to the throttle body the car won't stay running. It starts but stalls as soon as it does.I would think it shouldn't matter. Does the timing really affect the idle? I would appreciate any advice. Thanks!
