2016 CX-9 dies suddenly at highway speed
Hello, new to this forum. We are original owners of a 2016 CX-9 with 60K miles. Roughly nine months apart over the past year, it has twice died suddenly (no noticeable warning such as sputtering, etc) when continuously driving on interstate for two hours or more. Both times there was between 1/8 and 1/4 tank of gas remaining. After a few minutes wait, it re-started -- we then kept it over a half tank of gas with no issue for additional multiple hours of interstate driving. The first time we had walked and put in a couple gallons of gas (in case fuel gage was misreading), but given the second occurrence suspect it was just the wait that allowed it to re-start.
Is anyone familiar with this issue, or have any thoughts regarding the cause? I have read that Mazda has a fuel pump recall, but not on CX-9. I spoke to a couple of dealer service advisors, but both said they were not aware of any known issues.
Any feedback appreciated -- THANKS!

I asked the dealer, but a call directly to Mazda is worthwhile. I was thinking the low pressure fuel pump made sense, as it appears dependent on low fuel level in tank -- is that your thought also?
