Our 2002 Mazda Tribute DX (4cyl w/105k) has started giving us problems. It has new plugs and wires with less than 10,000 miles on them. It has start to hesitate and sputter when giving it more than 1/4 throttle. It idles fine. I put a new fuel filter and put some better plug wires on thinking it may have been just cheap wires. It didn't help. A local mech. looked at it and found it was only firing on 2 and 3. no fire on 1 and 4. He thought it may be the coil going bad. A new coil was put on with the same results. The parts store wouldn't take it back because it had been installed so i'm out 100 bux. Is there anyone how has had this firing issue or someone who could point me in the right direction?
