Default Sealed battery???

Is the battery in the 2016 CX-5 sealed (i.e. add no water ever)? If not, Godzilla must have been on the production line to tighten the filler caps.

Note: nothing in the massive owners manual about this.

The battery is of the "maintenance free" variety. Which means it "rarely needs maintenance". Check the water level every couple of years ( yes, the caps are removable) and you might find the cells need a little topping off.

Thanks grim_reaper....worked like a charm. Batt. was a little low in all 6 cells.

I wonder if there is a term in the Japanese language for "snug" as all these were tightened to "lug nut" tight. Same for Hondas I have owned. Removing the oil filter for the first time is a real chore and they didn't make it any easier by positioning it just above a cross member (Element). I found the best way to remove was from above leaning over the engine.

Thanks again for the tip.

I'm in the habit of checking the water level every couple of months, particularly in warmer climates. Use ONLY distilled water. I haven't come across a "maintenance free" battery yet that didn't require maintenance...

How do you know where the "fill line" is? There is no indicator like the 3/4 ring on a USA battery. Do not want to overfill.

Check to see if there's a fill line on the side of the battery
