Default Please, help

Hi,
Sorry if this questions has already been asked but I would much appreciate if you could help with advice as many people give me different advisor, i.e. garages.

I had my Mazda 6 Diesel 2.2 2011 fully serviced last week and 2 days ago the EDF light started to flash.
I spoke to the garage that serviced my car they said that my Diesel Particulate Filter is clogged up with soot so they can try to remove it by adding some anti soot stuff into it and then take it for a blast on the motorway, or in the worst case scenario it would cost about £600 to replace the filter…im hoping I can avoid this bill??

Spoke to Mazda dealership they asked if it is due for a service and whether it’s been serviced and that when it was the EDF was not reset they can do it for £75 quid,
Another garage offered a forced regeration for £40 (my mate will do a friendly price),

My question is how do I know where her EDF is flashing because:
1. My EDF is clogged with soot or
2. EDF had not been reset after the engine oil change
3. Any other reason?
Thanks in advance for any tips,

EFD or DPF?

The oil data needs reseting at every service. If it isnt then it flashes the DPF Light when the oil reaches a certain age/mileage.

It is DPF sorry, it is flashing but I heard that this could be due to a strained timing chain and can costs me thousand of pounds...how likely is it the strained chain?
The light came on just after it had been serviced at an Independent garage so it sounds like the DPF had not been reset but been warned by someone that it could be the strained timing chain...the car is 2011 reg, could it be the reason? Drives absolutely fine, no differnt

Take it to Mazda, get the oil data reset & a code check. 99% of the time we get a Diesel come in with the DPF light flashing, all it needs is the Oil data reset.

Yes it could be a clogged DPF, Mazda can do forced regens, there are diesel specialist than can do a chemical bath for the DPF, seen this help/clean them out before.

I don't believe a stretched chain will bring on the DPF light, engine light yes.

Thanks for the answers, I had got it sorted by the garage, they reset the oil data so it is not flashing anymore.
