I'm in South Australia & have a Nov / 06 Tribute.
Unfortunately the radio code didnt come with the car - Previous owner had dimentia & all books have been lost.
I have contacted Mazda but they say they cant retrieve the code.
I have tried Blues way to reset the code but that doesn't work for me.
I don't have the same buttons on the radio.
When i enter the 4898 code 4 times the security locks me out and i have to wait 30minutes for it to reset.
I don't get the ERR code. Just the Lock 3000 and then the system counts down to 0.
Then i can try again.
Is there another way to reset the code without having to remove the radio & send away?
Here in Australia the radio buttons read as per photo.
Could anyone help me with the reset order please?
Thank you in advance,

I created an account just to comment this. Thank you so much Blue_SP20 and Master P!!
I just bought a Mazda MX-5 2007 Option Pack, and the previous owner left the radio in the Err permanently, he didn't know the code.
The reset sequence + code 3511 worked perfectly, and the instructions as well!!
There's definitely a timing thing in the last step (pressing 6 + AutoM in sequence, fast but not together). You must hear a beep to know something was input.
Thank you again, now I'm ready to have fun with this amazing car.
Appreciate your responding. Seems the "engine" light that comes on every time I get gas, after reset, means something else is wrong, too ! All the best!
gwt a mechanic to put a scan tool on it, could be the “knock sensor”
