These engines seem to be notorious for all these problems and the dealership are unwilling to assist. The car has 188,000kms on it with almost every service being at a Mazda dealership. Everyone is saying Mazda replace these engines on different forums but that hasn’t been my experience.
If you can point me in the right direction as to what to say or where to go from here, that would mean the world. I’m happy to send you through all the reports Mazda gave me regarding their diagnosis and findings.
My 2016 CX-5 Diesel has some issues according to Mazda as they diagnosed some things in its logbook service that took place 2 weeks ago. I wanted to see if I could pick your brain as Mazda are taking no responsibility for these failures although they seem to coincide with the known failures these diesel engines have.
I’d love to know your opinion on my best bet having this rectified with Mazda sorting the costs. I was initially told the car failed some kind of pressure test and they thought it was due to carbon build up but to investigate further I would be up for $1,600 in labour just to fully diagnose the issue. Now they’re telling me it’s a cylinder head and I’m up for $8,000 in repairs.
The car was driving great with no engine lights on or overheating issues prior to this service.
Hey mate,
I've got a 2023 cx-5 Grand Touring and saw you did a speaker upgrade. I previously had a 2017 model which took a bit but was able to find a T-harness and connected in on the driver side panel however now obviously the factory amp is under the drive seat. I've got a pioneer amp that i used in the last set up that takes speaker level input however I'm seeing more an more about adding in an Audio Control LC7i.... What are your thoughts?
Saw you work for Mazda and I have been having some issues with mine. I have a Mazda CX-5 2015 model. All maintenance things have been up to date and I have been checking oil levels regularly, but a couple of days ago, while driving, the oil pressure red light came on. We stopped, checked the oil levels and it was up to max, so everything was good, turned the car back on and it was gone. 4 days later, while driving the light came back again, we turned off the car, checked the levels and everything was fine, turned the car back on and it was gone. What do you think the issue is? Could it be the software needing an update or a real filter or pump or even a sensor needing a fix? We bought the car 6 months ago and the oil was changed right before that, since then we passed about 8 000 km.
I have seen your responses to some of the Keyless entry malfunction issues. I had a headlight replaced on my 2018 CX3 recently, the part is original, but when I collected the car I see the Keyless entry Malfunction light is lit. I changed the battery in the Key Fob thinking that was the issue and also tried the 60sec reset on the the Fob with no result. The car was with the dealer for a 1.5 months due to a part shortage. Should I try the Battery disconnect for an hour?
