Transmission case questions for CD4E
Hi, I am replacing the bushings, bearings and friction disks and while cleaning the empty case, I dropped the case that holds the drum gears and it cracked.
Can I go to the wrecking yard and pull a case out and uses that?
Would I use the servo from my old case or the servo from the case from the yard?
Any other complications like binding, clearance issues, etc?
Thanks in advance.

It would be all around better to have the crack welded.
I weld both manual and many automatics to repair and more for the purpose of increasing case support and strength. And have done welding on both fully assembled transmissions as well as cores .

Let's just say the case is no longer usable because of my curiosity.
I pried the case to see how far the crack goes and some bits and pieces fell out at the impacted in area in chunks but I did find out. It goes about half way and splits, one line goes all the way to the oil pump mounting and the other goes to the valve body area and stops there.
Yea, there's no way I can trust this case seeing so many chunks and those crack lines even when welded up.
My main concern is the servo, do I use the servo from the cracked case or the servo that'll come with the newer case.
The cracked case servo is no groove and I've seen videos where they comes with 1-groove, 2-grooves, and no groove for this cd4e transmissions.
Thanks in advance.
