At 100Kmi (next year), I'll be considering replacing the shocks on my 2016.5 CX-5 GT AWD. Will do springs at the same time.

Goal is to refresh the suspension, tighten up the handling a little, retain good ride quality, and to lower it only a small amount. Leaning toward the Koni Sport (yellow) shocks paired with H&R Sport springs. Both the Koni-NA and H&R websites list the fitment as supported.

My question is: Any reasons why these shouldn't work just fine on the CX-5 AWD?

Performance aftermarket suspension parts...a mistake often read on forums many do is assume that because one manufactures parts will fit that they can be match to another's as a set replacement. The springs are progressive and as such my suggestion is to contact H&R and ask them about your pairing. I would then contact KONI and tell them that you will be lowering your vehicle which also changes the normal operation of the intended dampener. Dampeners have a specific operating rates for compressing the fluid or gas. Most are specifically designed for OEM suspension specifications. Lowering changes some aspects of how a dampener will operate.

 

Aware of those things. Was asking if anybody had done these on the CX-5.

Hadn't yet contacted H&R on the pairing. With the Konis (experienced on a couple other fitments), I've been through slight lowering and stiffening combined with the Koni Sport (yellow) shocks. Am not too concerned about the Konis' ability to handle a minor change. Though, as you suggest, it's probably worth verifying with both.
