Lowering an '04 Mazda 3 Hatchback!

Just bought an '04 Mazda 3 hatchback, and the car needs new front struts and strut plates. the car will be my daughters car soon, and she wants to lower the ride a little bit. Asking around, and not getting a definitive answer do I want lowering springs like the eibach's or do I want coil-overs? Anybody have advice on what I should want for an everyday driver that I'll be giving to a 17-year old soon.
Also, if I go with lowering springs, are there specific struts that go with the lower/shorter springs of will any aftermarket strut work?

Eibach's offer the best ride, are easy to get and not that expensive. Koni STR.T shocks also for a better ride.
I am running H&R springs and Koni Sports (yellows) and for the street the ride can be a little harsh at times.
Coilovers are expensive and require a lot more attention during their lifetime.
I would also recommend installing the adjustable upper rear links, and clearly a 4-wheel alignment after. Have the shop dial back the rear camber to just under -1*. If wanting to go even further, the HD front anti-sway bar links from an '06 work well, but you will need to drill out the OE bar for fitment. And the Racing Beat 28mm rear bar to counteract understeer.
