Talking New Mustang GT350 Flat Plane V8

The all-new Ford 5.2-liter flat-plane crankshaft V8 – an engine unique to Shelby GT350 and Shelby GT350R – produces 526 horsepower and 429 lb.-ft. of torque naturally aspirated! (no turbo or supercharger or nitrous).
Peak power comes in at 7,500 RPM, and peak torque at 4,750 RPM. Ford says that 90 percent of peak torque is available from approximately 3,450 RPM all the way to 7,500. 8,250 rpm redline. Talk about a balanced crankshaft, perfectly offset!
it’s also the most power-dense, with an incredible 102 horsepower-per-liter of displacement. For comparison, the only engine in memory produced by Ford–the legendary 427 SOHC race-oriented mill–to even come close to this figure managed a measly 88 horses-per-liter.
Our sources tell us the engine has a 12.5:1 compression ratio
We’ve heard numerous complaints from enthusiasts about the Mustang GT’s Getrag 6-speed manual transmission not tolerating high RPM shifts very well. Ford has worked closely with Tremec to develop a transmission specific to the Voodoo engine. An all new Tremec 3160 6-speed transmission features a host of special engineering features. This includes a lightweight gear set, a new cast aluminum case and clutch housing, and a light weight dual mass flywheel, as well as dual disc clutch.
There is a set of piston squirters to help keep the pistons cool, which Ford originally installed on the 2011 versions of the Coyote but subsequently removed. The piston skirts are coated with a low-friction coating, and the oil pump is unique to this engine and has 5.2L GT cast into the body.
This is the best video, as there is no background music, but just the sound of this Flat Plane V8 on a track, so crank up your stereo and enjoy!
